This morning was spent trying to wake up (man I was tired), get dressed, take Miss Elly (I’m dog sitting) out to potty (she piddled on the couch when she got excited about me finally pulling it together to take her out but no worries, got it cleaned up good as new) and then off for an egg white omelet. Oh and errands that needed to be ran while spending the least amount of money possible.
The food was wonderful but towards the end of my visit in Target my stomach started to roll. Great. . .but I was only a few blocks from the office, Publix and the wine store are right next door, so off I went to deal with my stomach and then to the grocery and wine store.
I had it in my head that I was going to attempt Coq qu vin but as I started to think about it I realized that I couldn’t remember if it called for a whole chicken that I carve up or breasts only. So with that, I opted to do a repeat performance of Beef Burgundy. Albeit in a smaller quantity this time and once I make it; I will probably eat off of it for the week. Last time I went with a small can of tomato paste and had to throw out 3/4 of the can since I didn’t have a way to save it, so this time I paid a bit more money and got a tube of it. I knew they had it that way but had to search for it since I guess not people need it in tube form.
I also have to share this with you, for those either needing to cut back on sweets or watching your girlish figure, Publix’s Sugar Free Syrup is the way to go. They were out the last time I wanted it and I ended up getting Hershey’s brand and while it is okay, the aftertaste is not that okay. So I picked that up as well as a gallon of skim milk (yum).
After that I realized that I had almost left the area without picking up a bottle of wine for my recipe. So I tried the new place next door and while I think I could have gotten it cheaper at my regular place, this was easier and one less stop. I went with a Bordeaux this time and can’t wait to try it. I also noticed that they now have in the little black box Riesling. So I will have to pick that up next time after payday. I love to have a glass or two but that is my limit, so I either waste the bottle since it gets hidden in the fridge or I forget about it. So box it will be. Plus, it would be cheaper to get a box of red to cook with once I settle on which red I want.
Once home, Elly and Wookie kept looking at me as if they were getting ready to ask me what I got them. Seriously little furry friends, you have plenty of food, treats and toys; you don’t need anything else. Then Wookie thought it must have been Christmas since I had a paper bag for him to burrow in.
I finally got out to the pool which no one else was taking advantage of and settled in to read a bit and take in the sun. As I was reading Speedo guy walked through the front gate, brown towel firmly wrapped around his waist, sat down, fiddled with his phone and then got back up and walked out. He did this twice. Is it just me or is that weird? Like literally walk in, sit for a second and then leave. Why bother? Between getting dressed for the pool, walking over to it; he spent less time at the pool. Or it could have been that I am such a freak that seeing me out there makes him want to run to the hills (thanks Iron Maiden, now that song is in my head).
So after two hours of self loathing, asking what was wrong with me, I finally had enough and came inside to take a nap and try to forget about the whole incident.
