Liam is a fighter. That sweet, little baby boy is breathing with his vent and taking stretches of time, doing more breathing than the vent. He has had his genetic testing done and results will be back in about a week’s time. He slept great last night and earlier today. His coloring looks better each time I go see him. He also makes this little piggy sound when he is breathing and it just melts my heart.
I got some great pictures of this beautiful family of three on Saturday and plan on printing them out for them tomorrow. Stacey should be released from the hospital tomorrow and then the daily trips to the children’s hospital begin. The whole staff at Vanderbilt have been wonderful and it makes me want to cry each time I cross paths with a worker because they are so kind, patient and willing to explain everything and anything.
Tomorrow the doctors are hoping to place a PICC line in Liam and take out the lines that are through his umbilical cord. They have a nurse that is absolutely amazing at this so please keep her in your prayers as she works on him. They are also hoping to take him down to get his MRI, bone scan and other testing done. The only hitch in this has to do with his tube. He cannot come out just yet and it was very difficult to get in when he was born. The plan will be to make sure he is stable and have the ENT doctor that placed the tube in be with him while they do these procedures.
Stacey and J are holding up well. I am amazed at their strength. I love being with them in the NICU because they both just light up when we are in there. I am also teaching Liam all about the greatest football team ever, the Steelers. Mom and dad have to keep explaining to them that I am a bit off though.
I am wrapping up laundry at their home as we speak. I offered to clean but apparently my skills make them question my offer. Oh well, I am the first to admit I suck at cleaning but Stacey, I did the loads of laundry just as you told me to! I separated the clothes out and actually have been folding and hanging stuff up as it comes out of the dryer! My mom would be so proud.
Teddy Bear has apparently been talking to Wookie again. . .as I was moving loads from washer to dryer to laundry basket Teddy got into my dinner. I guess I was finished! And Shadow? That dog has had some gnarly gas! Dang it!
Thanks for the prayers for them and please keep them up! Little Liam needs to spend as little time in the hospital as possible. I want him home with his parents ASAP so they can enjoy this little guy and I can nibble on his cheeks!
They’re lucky to have you for a friend! Thinking positive thoughts for Liam and family.
Amy,
Thank you for stopping by and keeping up the positive thoughts. I am lucky to have them as friends. And I thank my parents for teaching me to always be there when friends are in need.
