One Apartment, Six Women

Well, my apartment survived the visit from the ladies! Wookie was a bit stunned with the chaos and noise but after napping this afternoon with me, he seems to have forgotten that he was surrounded.

Friday after work was a bit of an issue. It had just finally stopped raining but traffic was a mess. The Queen called me as I was driving to say she was close to mile marker 175, approximately 11 miles behind me. And we were both stuck, crawling at a snail’s pace. I got home, called the pedi place to say we were stuck in traffic and would get there ASAP. Then I ran the vacuum around the apartment as quickly as possible.

We took off to get our toes done and immediately starting laughing about a variety of things. We got back to my place and hung out while waiting for the rest of the ladies to arrive. Let’s just say, putting all of us together tends to make us stay off track. We got their car unloaded and before it was all up here we all agreed we were hungry but first, we needed a drink. So after about an hour of chatting, laughing and stomachs growling we finally all loaded up in Strawberry’s SUV to make the drive to the grocery.

With two shopping carts, we took off throwing all kinds of food into them without really thinking about what was needed. We over shopped. . . but the good news is, we only spent $26 each for our load of food. Which by the way has made me gain about 30 lbs in one very short weekend! As we were heading to checkout I smelled the fried chicken that C had picked up. OMG! I had never had Publix fried chicken before and let’s just say I so pulled a leg out and started munching on it before we even left the store. I am classy like that! And I shared with C and the Queen. Next stop, liquor store because hey, no one wants to run out of cocktails.

Once home C and I threw almost every frozen app into the oven and my table groaned at the weight of the food dumped onto it. We ate, we drank, we laughed and then we saw just how much food was purchased just for a Friday evening. . . once the food was packed back up we headed to the deck to talk, share stories and listen to Sarge repeat questions. It was comical and I want to apologize to my neighbors for what they might have heard that evening.

And since going to bed is one of those really hard tasks for us when we are all together. . . well, it took a while. There were shows, laughter, rooming arrangements, furniture to be moved and bodily functions to be shared.

Of course, the night of rest was all too short since Sarge woke up at 7:30 and started wandering through the apartment. She was banging on things, came into my room and basically would not take no for an answer. So shortly before 8, I crawled out of bed with a disgusted look on my face because I was still a bit sleepy.

A couple pots of coffee remedied that and C and I headed into the kitchen to make breakfast. Seriously, our lives revolve around food and it is great to be around such wonderful women who will shove food into their mouths as quickly as I will.

The day was spent by the pool, drinking, eating, catching some rays and talking. Of course I ended up with a little too much sun but hey, it happens. We also got to watch a fine looking man with a six pack get into the pool. Also nice to have some man candy around. . .

After getting cleaned up it took me a few to get motivated to cook. But as we were watching Working Girl, I cooked. And I think we each gained about ten lbs eating that meal! It was yummy and made even yummier by the wonderful company.

Each day I was hugged on, told I was loved and missed and it was just one of those weekends where I become even more grateful to have these ladies in my life. It was an early evening since we were in bed before midnight but I think a full day in the sun plus a lot of food equals sleepy ladies!

Today was great but also bittersweet. After cleaning up, packing up and heading off for brunch, I had to do the inevitable yet again, say goodbye. So with one last hug, kiss and I love you with each of them, I teared up, tried to be strong and remember that in about three short weeks, I will be there for a visit.

Ladies, thank you so much for taking time out of your lives to spend the weekend with me. I know that getting away from family is sometimes hard but seeing you each morning made me smile. I love you all! And please come back whenever you want!

What you see is what you get; I am a Nashville girl who is single, again. I use the blog to get my inner, tortured, wanna be writer angst out. One day I just may write a book. I have been stumbling through life for 43 years now, I love to cook, read and figure out more embarrassing ways I can either harm myself (thank you hula hoop of 2010 and the case of the thrown back) or just prove how inept I am at household chores and dieting. The people you read about on here are real but most have had their names changed to protect the innocent and not so innocent. And I really should make a list of them so I can remember! Enjoy, read, mock, laugh and comment, it really isn't difficult. Plus, I would prefer reading comments from real people as opposed to the weird spam comments I keep getting. Plus, I will always find the hardest path to follow and take that one, why would anyone want to take the easy way?!
