Tuesday Randomness

I am digging the cooler temps and relishing the leaves slowly turning colors! After a weekend full of cleaning (seriously I must be ill) and being all kinds of crafty, I am ready for some randomness tonight.

  • The Comcast issues are finally resolved but it took a few days and shock of all shock, apparently some of my neighbors were having issues too.
  • The tech called it a “signal leakage” and didn’t understand why it happened
  • I am over the replacement refs in the NFL–besides the bad calls, the issues of safety for the players; the bigger issue is pro football is VERY different than college
  • I had a hankering for meatloaf last week thanks to my BFF Stace. . . I use Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food recipe (search for the one with comfort in the title)
  • Growing up I did not like meatloaf but Martha’s version is to die for!
  • Besides vacuuming this weekend, I actually dusted. . . something is so wrong with me
  • I pulled out my fall decorations and started throwing them around the apartment
  • I also finished my crafty project that Son inspired me to do. . .
  • I have been looking for prints that showcase my love a NYC, while shopping with Son at the beginning of summer I found pre-cut wrapping paper that had a map of the city and a retro one with ads for various spots there
  • I have lugged those silly things around for over three months looking for a cheap framing option. . . with no luck
  • Since my friend happens to be a crafty person, she suggested using Mod Podge on stretched canvas
  • Stretched canvas, Mod Podge, a paint brush, some card stock and the wrapping paper equals nice big pieces of art hanging in my dining room
  • I think the total cost for the project was $30
  • After work today I hit Radnor Lake, I have been coming up with all kinds of excuses not to go but know that going daily is the best thing for me
  • I saw deer and wild turkeys while walking the lake trail
  • This morning while I was opening the blinds in the living room I noticed I had a guest on my deck. . .
  • The saddest, scrawniest kitty cat I have ever seen curled up on one of my deck chairs
  • Besides wanting to burst out in tears, I realized why Wook didn’t sleep with me most of the night
  • After taking out a bowl of food and water to put on my deck I got the stink eye from Wook. . . he doesn’t share well
  • I don’t think the poor little thing has come back, but I am hoping she does. While I can’t take her in, I can certainly feed her and make a nice home on my deck for her
  • My mother is crazy. . . she left me a voicemail on my phone meowing. . .she said it was Wook calling to complain about my compassion
  • Yes, my cat has serious issues but he is 13, a rescue and my baby

And here is a head scratcher. . . a couple of weeks ago I was at Green Hills Mall, known for being the mothership for the affluent. While drooling over pretty much everything in Williams Sonoma, a lady came racing in demanding the sales clerk call security. In her words, “some foreign looking men were taking pictures of the skylights just outside of the store.” After I picked up my mouth and attempted to process this woman’s logic, I felt bad for anyone who may not look “American” whatever that look is, by the way. I kind of shook my head in disbelief and walked out to hit the next store and there was that crazy woman, stopping others to tell them about what had transpired. The thing is, I would probably stop to take pictures at this one part of the mall if the lighting was just right because I have seen some lovely clouds, blue sky through those skylights.

I felt like Dorothy when she landed in Oz. I know horrible things happen, that there are people out there that hate Americans but this was just an early Friday evening, in an affluent mall. Have things gotten so bad in the world that taking a simple picture translates into possible terrorist activities?

Wow, that was a bit heavy for a Tuesday Randomness. I apologize, I just happened to remember that this afternoon and wanted to share it. Happy early hump day, I am going to go stretch my tired muscles out now.

Tuesday Randomness

I am in the process of building a boat and wishing I had bought those red Hunter Wellies but I am sure the opportunity will come again, for now, give me the smell of fall. I am so ready for the cooler weather.

  • I have an illness, it makes me actually put my laundry up when dried; picking up messes around my apartment and vacuuming on a regular basis.
  • I even managed to hang curtains that mom sent me this past weekend.
  • Let me explain–I don’t do curtains. They collect cat hair, take time to hang and just seem like an extra step when I already have blinds for each room.
  • The only reason I currently have them hanging in my bedroom is because a lamp by the pool makes it seem like daylight in the middle of the night.
  • Apparently having curtains makes one a grown up. Sure it does. . .
  • I went to my first ever Scentsy party on Saturday. I finally met Kim, whom I have “known” for what seems like forever thanks to all the stories from Rach. Her kids are even cuter in person and I got to sample her famous muffins. I can’t wait to get my stuff from the party! This could be another area where money just flies out of my pockets.
  • Minor complaint, when will all the sports commentators stop making it sound like Peyton Manning walks on water. Second week in a row where I got to listen to how wonderful he is and somehow he must be the only player on the field because they can’t talk about anyone else.
  • Thank you Atlanta Falcons for playing as well as you did; I was a bit fearful that if you listened to the pregame talk that you would not realize that you were actually playing as well.
  • I am sure he is a fine football player but I don’t like him or how he acts when a play goes wrong. Same with Jay Cutler. It takes more than one player to play the game.
  • Major complaint–Comcast/Xfinity whatever they are wanting to brand themselves has pushed me to the edge. I am pretty darn close to calling DirectTV up and starting a relationship with them.
  • I came home to learn that the cable and internet was out. No one else’s service was down, just mine. I called and they couldn’t understand it either.
  • They want to send a tech out, great. . . just great; because the last time a tech came out here he took his sweet time setting everything up and then I spent my time calling and correcting everything. In fact, I get to pay Comcast/Xfinity to follow-up with them to make sure they did what they are supposed to do. I get to waste my gas and time away from work for another tech to come out and see what the problem is, all on top of their awesome tech fees for an appointment.
  • Why yes Comcast/Xfinity, how about I just give you money and you make sure I don’t have service. I pink puffy heart that!
  • And make sure you train all the reps to say they are so sorry without any care, concern or feeling.
  • Excuse me, I am just a very unhappy camper right about now. . .
  • On to better things. . .
  • The temps are supposed to be falling a bit, let’s just hope they stay there instead of getting hot again. I prefer cooler weather.
  • I am ready to see the leaves turn colors!
  • It goes well with football and making soups
  • Dare I say I am actually thinking about trying eHarmony or Match again. Seriously, I hate the whole first date thing but I would like to actually have a date, with a boy, dinner and a movie. Possibly even a kiss.
  • Don’t worry, I already know how this ends. I am pretty hopeless when it comes to guys. I seem to attract the most selfish, shallow turds in all of the world.

And with that last laugh you all got, I will be heading out in search of WiFi and tweeting about my displeasure with Comcast/Xfinity. Good times. . .

9/11 A Remembrance

Words will never convey how this one day changed how I now view the world. I remember it all clearly, down to how blue the sky looked the night before in Nashville when I had dinner with Bubba or how beautiful it looked that morning. I have been to the site in NYC twice since that horrible day; my thoughts, prayers, love and respect to those we lost, their families and friends in New York, DC and Shanksville, PA.

Sunday Musings

I still want to know how the weekend flies by so quickly. Maybe one day I will figure that out. For now I will be grateful for two days off, naps and dealing with a very grumpy cat.

I was supposed to head to the MTSU game yesterday but I messed up my shoulder Thursday and it was beyond painful Friday. I wussed out knowing that spending 12 hours tailgating and watching a football game was not the best idea. Instead I watched a lot of football, enjoyed the cooler weather and possibly growled while at Buffalo Wild Wings watching the State/Auburn game.

I am not a beer drinker, preferring Jack and Diet over most drinks but I do like cider, so I tried an Angry Orchard Cider. Very good. I still prefer Jack though.

This morning I got up early to meet up with Stace and check out The Shoppes at Target. It was kind of depressing, I think we found a handful of end caps with the items on it. I thought this was supposed to be a big deal?

I did get to visit with a little cutie after our shopping excursion. Little E was a bit stinky though, so perfect time for Aunt Amy to come visit. I only gagged once while changing his diaper. I also got some quality time with my Stinky Boyfriend, aka Shadow. Poor puppy dog, he is getting on up there in years.

While waiting for the Steelers game to start tonight I listened to Kelly Clarkson, yes, I listen to bubble gum pop. I LOVE her! And her songs. I danced around, sang off tune and Wook looked as if he wanted to run for the hills. But it reminded me how thankful I am to be home. It doesn’t matter that I am single or that I am not skinny. I have learned a whole bunch about me, my exes (and thank goodness they are my exes!) and finding happiness.

I confess, it would be icing on the cake to find the right one and get back into my skinny jeans but for right now I will be happy with the now.

And I have to say Happy Birthday (early) to the best thing since sliced bread, Wook. My little man has been with me for almost 13 years and I have dragged his grumpy little tush to East TN and back, but he is the most consistent man in my life (excluding daddy of course). I am not a crazy cat lady but I do love my little gray baby. You deserve all the expensive organic cat food you get!

And now I must concentrate on the game, my Steelers need to teach Peyton a lesson.

Tuesday Randomness

I love having a three day weekend but I have a hard time keeping up with the days! Yesterday I could have sworn it was Sunday and today Monday but hey, the weekend is just a few short days away, so bring it!

  • My weekend consisted of football, more football and another side of football
  • Did I mention that I watched a lot of football?
  • I did get some time at the pool Saturday morning, Bear and his cute little girl came over to swim for a bit
  • They bring a Super Soaker water gun with them, lots of fun people
  • I have now vacuumed and cleaned my place three times since I moved backed, I still think I must have some kind of illness
  • I did get a bit worried with all the rain we had Sunday, I don’t want to have to build a boat to get around town
  • Girls night Thursday night proved to be lots of fun, those ladies crack me up but apparently we have to find a new venue since parking can be an issue
  • Bear made the mistake of texting me yesterday stating he was bored. . .
  • I mentioned hitting Radnor Lake for a walk
  • He agreed
  • He now maintains I tried to destroy him with that walk. . .
  • I got the best picture of him at the end of the hike
  • And I posted it to FB
  • I laughed my evil laugh while reading all the comments
  • He is still talking to me after our little excursion
  • I am going to another one of our friends to MTSU this Saturday for a game, I haven’t been back since I graduated
  • Tailgating Raider style, let’s see if they can compete with the Grove in Oxford
  • Doubtful but I am going to give it the old college try
  • I am still in search of a great nickname for our friend, this is starting to get difficult
  • We found out the other week that mom has late onset asthma
  • Yeah, I don’t get that either
  • I am itching for a vacation, where is the money tree when you need it?!
  • NFL, tomorrow! Can’t wait! And Go Steelers, beat the Broncos Sunday night!

I need to get back to my hot date with Howard Stern and America’s Got Talent. I never said I was I cool, the dorky part always wins out.
